School days

Dear friends,
Below you will see some pictures taken of the children in House of Hope preparing to go to school. For Shan children, an education is a priveledge, not a right. We are so grateful that all of our childrne are able to attend Thai public schools and receive extra lessons in Shan & English at the home!

You will probably notice the beautiful outfits the children are wearing. Well, these pictures were taken on a Friday, which is the day when all the school children dress up in their traditional clothes. We want the children to be proud of the Shan culture & heritage, therefore we make them Shan national clothes to wear to school. Most of these chothes were sewn by the oldest girls at the home as part of the sewing lessons they get at House of Hope. You will also notice that many of these pictures were taken while the children had their breakfast. Hopefully the Shan food will tempt you! Enjoy the pictures!
PS: All the pictures in this post were taken by Ms. Tami See, a good friend & supporter of House of Hope. She spent 3 days of her summer vacation together with us at HoH, which we truly appreciated!
